Fregently Asked Questions

Q. What is meant by clear water, gray water, and black water?
A.
Clear water is clean water that floods from a broken water line into your home. This would include drinking water, or water that you would use for bathing. Gray water is dirty water that is contaminated but not too harmful. It may contain bacteria and other microorganisms from the diswasher or a toilet overflow. Black water is highly contaminated and may contain human waste and harmful chemicals from the sewage system.

Q. Should I tear up my carpet if my house is flooded?
A.
The answer is usually yes, but there are exceptions. Whether or not to tear up wet carpet depends on the type of carpeting you have and also on the affected areas. To prevent further damage to an other wise salvageable carpet, call A & E Flood Services.

Q. Is it necessary to remove all wet drywall? Can't I just dry it?
A.
Drywall can be dried depending on its location and the severity of the water damage. We at A & E Flood Services remove all wet drywall because it is the only way to ensure that total dry-out can be performed. Taking any risk by leaving drywall in place and not guaranteeing the opposing sides are dry can leave you with mold growth.
